Today, President Biden virtually met with four business, university and healthcare leaders who have adopted COVID-19 vaccination requirements for their workforce. The President expressed his gratitude to these leaders who mobilized to protect the lives of their employees and their communities. He highlighted the administration’s vaccination requirements for the federal workforce, including the requirement for COVID-19 vaccinations for Department of Veterans Affairs health workers and the Department of Defense project to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of vaccinations required for the military. During the meeting, leaders explained how they arrived at their decision to require vaccinations and how they are working to implement their own requirements. The President asked each of these leaders to tell their industry peers about this important milestone to share best practices and encourage further action. He expressed optimism that other employers would follow suit, and he noted that the federal government will continue to support employers as they need COVID-19 vaccinations.
