Qatar Finance and Business Academy and KPMG sign partnership for IFRS training in Qatar

DOHA: Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) has signed an exclusive partnership with KPMG, a Big 4 accounting firm providing audit, tax and advisory services to deliver training programs on International Financial Reporting Standards ( IFRS) in Qatar.

As part of this alliance, experienced KPMG professionals will help equip trainees with the latest IFRS knowledge. One of the initial programs will prepare participants for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Diploma in IFRS (DipIFR) examinations. An IFRS Advanced Banking course is also set to launch early next year as part of a series of initiatives. IFRS courses would be tailored to industry and business requirements, QFBA said in statement

IFRS are on the way to becoming the reference in the accounting world. Program participants will reap the benefits of learning from industry professionals who have global exposure to IFRS.

Initially, the courses will focus on Qatar. However, in the near future, the courses will be open to regional and international participants.

Earlier this year, as part of the Qatar Banking Summit 2012, QFBA and KPMG organized a workshop for finance professionals from the Qatari banking industry. During this same summit, the AFAQ discussed its intention to launch an IFRS training initiative targeting finance professionals in the banking sector.

This recent signing comes days after AQFQ, a comprehensive training provider, certificate scheme developer and exam administrator, launched its 2013 program.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al Horr, CEO of QFBA, said: “Qatar Finance & Business Academy’s primary objective remains to support the growth of Qatar’s leading financial services center through learning and development. This is part of the broader strategy to help diversify Qatar’s economy and create a world-class knowledge economy. The partnership with KPMG is the most recent of the programs and services offered by the AQFQ that contribute to the achievement of this objective.

Gopal Balasubramanian, KPMG Partner, said: “IFRS is becoming the global reporting standard in a changing environment. Our alliance with the QFBA would enable professionals to prepare for developments and understand the impact of changes. We are delighted to partner with the QFBA, a leading organization dedicated to learning and development and to providing unique training solutions to various business segments in Qatar.” (QNA)
