The Faculty of Commerce and Economics calls for applications for the post of

Junior Professor (W1) in Business Administration, esp. Business Strategy and Ethics

with a four-year contract, to be filled as soon as possible. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended to six years.

The mutually agreed assessment criteria upon acceptance of the position will form the basis of the assessment procedure. The essential elements of the evaluation will be the scientific success in terms of the development of an independent and original research profile at the intersection of strategy and business ethics, its implementation in publications and third-party projects , participation in national and international peer-reviewed publications and conferences, initiation of collaborative projects within the Faculty of Commerce and Economics, as well as the development of innovative educational content for bachelor’s and master’s programs and diploma from the Faculty of Commerce and Economics, with positive student evaluations in German and English language courses.

You (m/f/x) are expected to represent the field of business strategy and ethics in teaching and research. You will offer courses in the bachelor’s, master’s and diploma programs of the Faculty of Management and Economics, in particular at the advanced bachelor’s level as well as at the master’s and diploma levels. Initially, your teaching obligation includes four academic hours per week. We expect you to actively cooperate with faculty members and engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations within the university, as well as external fundraising and academic self-administration.

You have an excellent relevant doctorate, have already presented your research results at national and international conferences and possess the ability to publish in leading international journals. Your research focuses on at least one of the following themes: Strategy and Major Challenges, Sustainable and Strategic Organization, Social/Sustainable Entrepreneurship and/or Sustainable Development Strategy. To strengthen the existing social and behavioral research profile in the field of business administration and to promote cooperation with the corresponding professorships, an empirical orientation (quantitative and/or qualitative) is desired. We expect good teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer lessons in English. Fluency in German is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire sufficient German language skills to carry out teaching and administrative tasks within two years of appointment. Applicants must fulfill the professional qualification requirements of § 63 of the Higher Education Institutions Autonomy Act of the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
