Elevate Business Academy, launched in Kandiyohi County, receives state grant – West Central Tribune


WILLMAR — A Small Business Partnership Grant, from the Minnesota Department of Jobs and Economic Development, will not only help fund the Elevate Business Academy, but also pave the way for a series of educational forums to help business owners small businesses.

According to an EDC press release.

“This grant allows us to invest in the long-term viability and continued success of Elevate,” said Sarah Swedburg, Director of Business Development at EDC. “We are excited to continue supporting our hard-working entrepreneurs in the county.”

Through the grant, EDC will also be able to work with the Mid-Minnesota Development Commission to host educational forums to help small business owners develop best practices related to specific business topics.

According to the release, Elevate is the state’s first and only Community Business Academy and provides business training and coaching opportunities to underserved minority entrepreneurs. The academy is a partnership between EDC, the Southwest Initiative Foundation and Rising Tide Capital.

The first class of Elevate Academy graduated in June 2021. The second 12-week course began in September and will end in December.
