DARe’s online Industry Business Academy offering 300 Coursera locations

Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) offers 300 fully sponsored slots for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to access business related courses on the Coursera e-learning platform.

DARe offers Coursera courses through its Industry Business Academy (IBA), which has trained 7,900 business people through workshops and physical and online courses since 2016.

IBA has started offering Coursera during March of last year, with more than 200 MSMEs registering accounts as demand for virtual learning accelerated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each MSME can participate in up to five courses from a list of 300 courses in eight key business areas:

  1. Marketing sales
  2. Innovation and design
  3. Human ressources
  4. Finance and Accounting
  5. Commercial operations
  6. Professional skills
  7. Data skills
  8. Technological skills

To be eligible, companies must be registered under the Register of Companies and Trade Names (ROCBN) and meet the national definition of MSMEs of having less than 100 employees, while also having an existing product or service.

Muhd Zulfadli Hj Matamit of Drop By Enterprise, who enrolled in Marketing in a Digital World, said the course provided essential knowledge on implementing marketing for its own products.

“I took this course to improve my knowledge of how marketing works and it was better than I expected,” he said. “This course gives me an idea of ​​how marketing works and the basics of 4Ps. I like it because it gives me examples and practical exercises / tasks that could be beneficial for me when I want to solve the problems I am having in marketing.

Coursera is one of the largest massive open online course (MOOC) providers in the world with over 45 million users and over 3,000 courses created by leading universities and companies that provide users with verified certificates for the ‘completion.

Classes last approximately two to 12 weeks and include exercises and interactive tests. Users can download or access learning materials on demand or offline, allowing businesses to learn at their own pace.

Coursera also guided projects where participants can learn specific skills with subject matter experts in less than two hours.

The slot request can be made online via DARe website, successful applicants receiving an email with the login information for their Coursera account. Users will be able to access Coursera courses until February 23, 2021.
