Cox Small Business Academy partners with TCC to help local leaders grow | Education

Local small business owners will have another opportunity this fall to increase their chances of success.

Tulsa Community College and Cox Communications this week announced a partnership to launch the first Cox Small Business Academy, with the goal of providing ongoing education and leadership development for owners and other leaders of small businesses in the Tulsa area.

The 10-week in-person program will begin September 13, meeting once a week until November 15. Cox underwrites the program, making the cost of participation free.

The program is open to everyone, but with a particular focus on businesses owned or led by minorities, veterans, women and people with disabilities, officials said.

Pete Selden, TCC’s Vice President of Workforce Development, said, “TCC’s vision is an educated, employed and thriving community. It starts with listening to the needs of the local business community, then responding with a collaboration to develop the necessary workforce, or in this case, to help grow small businesses. »
