2021/24 Batch of Doctor of Business Administration Colombo University Faculty of Management and Finance to hold a meeting – Adaderana Biz


The 2021/24 Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) batch from the University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance recently held a glamorous reunion at Verticle by Jetwing in Colombo. It was a memorable event with the participation of Prof. MPP Dharmadasa, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, Prof. B. Nishantha, Coordinator of the Post-Graduate and Mid-Career Development Unit , Professor Tharusha Gooneratne, coordinator of the DBA Program, teachers of semesters I and II of the DBA program and the batch of DBA students 2021/2024. It turned out a fun evening with entertainment.

The University of Colombo has been a pioneer in the higher education sector in Sri Lanka for decades. It is a metropolitan university with nine leading faculties, seven institutes, as well as several centers, units, and schools under its wing. It received international ratings as the top university in the country.

The Faculty of Management and Finance was established in May 1994 and is committed to the pursuit of excellence in research, teaching, consulting and community service while being a center of excellence for the teaching of management and finance in Sri Lanka. The faculty offers a wide range of academic programs emphasizing disciplinary rigor, business practicality, and skills development spanning undergraduate, graduate, and executive education. These programs range from MPhil/Ph.D., DBA, to Master of Business Administration (MBA), including various specialized MBAs, Executive MBAs, postgraduate degrees, undergraduate degrees, executive degrees, and diplomas.

The DBA program conducted by the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Colombo is specially designed for senior managers and professionals in the private and public sectors with master’s level qualifications as well as significant work experience who seek to become practitioner-researchers in their fields. The program includes a refined blend of management theory, practice and research.

This three-year, six-semester program begins with structured coursework covering a range of important courses in management and research methodology, as well as a series of workshops and seminars designed to strengthen research skills. The program also includes a practice-oriented research project completed by the submission of a thesis on an approved topic.

Combining academic rigor with managerial relevance, courses in the program are delivered by a panel of well-trained and qualified academics and industry experts. Students are guided in their dissertation by reputable research supervisors and exhibited at leading institutes around the world. The program also includes periodic reviews by expert panels to monitor progress and facilitate ongoing student research.
